Pre-Operative Conditions for Oral Surgery with IV Sedation:
To ensure your safety and the success of your procedure, please follow these important instructions carefully:
- Fasting: Do not eat or drink anything (including water) for at least 8 hours before your appointment. If you are taking Ozempic, Wegovy, or any Semaglutide medications, you should stop taking it for 1 week and then you must fast for 12 hours prior to your appointment. You can start back on the medication the day after your surgery.
- Smoking: No smoking for at least 12 hours before your surgery. Ideally, try to reduce or stop smoking as early as possible before an upcoming surgery.
- Accompaniment: A responsible adult must accompany you to the office, remain in the office during the procedure, and drive you home afterward.
- Post-Procedure Restrictions: Do not drive a vehicle or operate any machinery for 24 hours after receiving anesthesia.
- Clothing: Wear loose-fitting clothing with sleeves that can be rolled up past the elbow, and avoid high-heeled shoes.
- Remove Personal Items: Please remove contact lenses, jewelry, and dentures before your procedure.
- Cosmetics: Avoid wearing lipstick, heavy makeup, or nail polish on the day of your surgery.
- Health Concerns: If you are experiencing any illness (such as a cold, sore throat, or upset stomach), please notify the office.
