Sedation Dentistry

Intravenous Sedation (“Twilight Sedation”)

At Fletcher Hills Dental Implant & Oral Surgery Center, we offer the option of Intravenous Sedation (IV Sedation), also known as Twilight Sedation or Dental Intravenous Anesthesia, to help you feel completely at ease during dental procedures. This advanced sedation technique is our niche and one of the distinguishing features of our practice that sets us apart from other dental offices.

IV sedation, also referred to as “twilight sleep,” allows you to undergo dental procedures in a relaxed and comfortable state. This technique helps you feel calm, reducing anxiety, and ensuring that you are not fully aware of the procedure taking place. You may not be fully asleep, but you will be in a deeply relaxed state, drifting in and out of consciousness. In this way, we make even complex procedures seem effortless and stress-free for you.

The Benefits of IV Sedation:

  • Comfort and Relaxation: You’ll feel deeply relaxed, with little to no awareness of your treatment.

  • Reduced Anxiety: IV sedation helps alleviate dental anxiety, allowing you to undergo procedures without fear or discomfort.

  • Efficiency: Complex or lengthy treatments can be completed in one visit while you remain comfortable and calm.

How is the IV Sedation Administered?

The procedure is simple and safe. A small needle is inserted into a vein in your arm or hand, through which a controlled drip of medication is administered to keep you relaxed. The amount of sedation is carefully monitored, ensuring that you receive just the right level of sedation for your procedure. Some patients with medical conditions and/or on specific drug regimens may only be lightly sedated and may not sleep at all. The goal of IV sedation is to use as little medication as possible to get the treatment completed. In some cases, the needle may be removed after the medication is delivered, but a constant “drip” is maintained via the intravenous tube. If necessary, an antidote can be administered to reverse the effects of the sedation at any time.

In addition to IV sedation, we also offer various other sedation options, such as nitrous oxide analgesia and oral sedation, or a combination of both. This flexibility allows us to tailor your sedation plan to suit your specific needs and comfort level. All sedation methods are carefully administered and monitored by Dr. Gadler to ensure your safety and well-being.

Sedation Dentistry: A Solution for Everyone

Whether you’re elderly, disabled, or simply have a fear of dental procedures, sedation dentistry offers a valuable solution.

Sedation Dentistry for the Elderly:

As we age, maintaining optimal oral health becomes even more critical. Many elderly patients avoid necessary dental care due to anxiety, medical concerns, difficulty with transportation, or embarrassment over their oral condition. Sedation dentistry offers elderly patients the opportunity to receive the dental care they need in a relaxed, stress-free state, allowing them to wake up to improved oral health without the discomfort or fear often associated with treatment.

Sedation Dentistry for the Disabled:

For patients with disabilities, accessing dental care can be especially challenging. At Fletcher Hills Dental Implant & Oral Surgery Center, we provide compassionate care and specialized sedation options for patients with special needs. Whether it’s difficulty brushing and flossing regularly, a severe gag reflex, dry mouth as a result of medication, or other challenges, Dr. Gadler is trained to provide sedation that makes the dental surgical experience easier and more comfortable, addressing both medical and emotional concerns in one visit.

Sedation Dentistry for the Fearful:

Dental anxiety and phobia are real and can prevent people from seeking necessary dental care. Whether it’s fear of needles, drills, or previous negative experiences, we understand the impact that dental phobia can have on your life. At Fletcher Hills Dental Implant & Oral Surgery Center, we are committed to helping you overcome this fear. With IV sedation, you can experience dentistry in a new, comfortable way, ensuring that your visit is completely relaxed and stress-free.
